Nearby Departure Points

Because the Blue Caves are inaccessible by land, you must drive to a northern coastal base to catch a boat.

It takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to drive from Zakynthos town to these departure points. Parking at the ports is free. From here, you can take a guided group tour starting around €20 per person or rent a private motorboat for roughly €200.

Sea conditions dictate access, so strong north winds can cancel trips. See Getting there for driving logistics.

This is the closest main harbor, located about 2.5 kilometers south of the caves by sea. It is the best place to find small boat tours that physically enter the cave arches. You can also easily rent a private motorboat here to explore at your own pace.

Cape Skinari Windmill

30 minutesStaircase access

Cape Skinari sits at the northernmost tip of Zakynthos and features a windmill and a lighthouse. Boats operate directly from the base of the cliffs. You can walk down a long staircase to swim off the flat rocks, though swimming to the caves from here requires strong stamina.
